In possession solely of a kiddy watercolor paint set (hey, it cost me less than a dollar!) and my leftover pencils from getting my education, I'm on a really minimalistic (media-wise), low-budget streak beginning my (more focused) visual art pursuits.
So for the first time last night, I watched a movie called Bunraku.
Could not have asked for better inspiration. Absolutely awesome, excellently well-done, low budget filming. I mean, the sets were these CRAZY, simplistic stage sets and somehow it all interacted so seamlessly with the camera, the action, the dialog, the plot, and by the way, the shooting and editing were the most pro you'll ever see. The lighting was awesome. All done with the most basic resources.
It was story-telling at its finest, which was part of the premise of the movie anyway; the telling and retelling of an archetypal adventure. Well, they told it with mind-blowingly clever, fresh, blended, uniqueness. Seriously. They pulled off live-action anime with theater-like stage sets that moved with the style and art of using cameras. The acting also blended both ways.
These artists, though they worked with so little, were masters of their arts. It was like watching a doctor who knows his stuff so well he can improvise a surgery with a stick and a rubber band. No, I've never actually seen that done. But I watched Bunraku.
It is true that the worse the circumstances are, the more the mastery of a faithful worker pops. I'm no master, but I'm inspired by the idea of working with nothing and just being that good.
I'll get there someday! And it won't hurt to start here.

Day 1

1 min read
Today I awoke bright and early to paint and draw before recording some music for the ol' band. Then I started this art account to encourage myself. Then, all dressed up for Starwars Day, I made bread. Every time I punched it down I thought, "Rise, and rise again, until lambs become lions."
Nerdtime.
This is acceptable, right?
